In my view, TikTok is the most powerful social media platform today — not just because of its popularity, but because of its impact on real people’s lives, including mine.
TikTok has taught me practical skills I didn’t learn anywhere else. From learning how to cook a traditional dish to repairing something in my home with everyday tools, it has become my personal teacher. What makes TikTok different is how instantly useful and personal its content feels. It’s not just about entertainment — it’s about empowerment.
Beyond that, TikTok keeps me updated with global news in a way that feels more raw and real than traditional media. I’ve learned about crises and movements that are often ignored by mainstream news outlets. As someone from Latin America, I’m especially moved by the way TikTok brings our communities together. One of the most powerful examples is something called “Batallón de Amor” — a beautiful movement where people gather to donate food to those who have nothing to eat. I’ve seen ordinary people use this platform to organize acts of service that feed hundreds. That kind of impact is unforgettable.
As the writer Brené Brown once said, “Empathy has no script. There is no right way or wrong way to do it. It’s simply listening, holding space, withholding judgment, and emotionally connecting.”
That’s what I see TikTok doing — especially in Latin America. It connects people through shared experiences, builds empathy, and invites action.
I also admire how entrepreneurs use the platform to grow their businesses. A small shop in a rural area can suddenly be known nationwide because someone shared their story or product on TikTok. As someone who wants to be part of the business world, this inspires me. It shows that with the right tools and visibility, anyone can succeed.
In the end, TikTok isn’t just powerful because it reaches millions it’s powerful because it reaches hearts, and it turns awareness into action. It teaches, it connects, and sometimes, it even saves lives.
